Non-linearity
Non-linear systems are those that can not be represented or modelized by using linear functions, because (at least) one of the required properties for linearity is not fulfilled (→ Linear System), usually the additivity. Typically, in a non-linear microscopy system (like DIC or SHG) is not true that
f (x + y) = f(x) + f(y).
