Bandwidth
The bandwidth of a device is the difference between the upper and lower frequencies that can be passed though it (see also Fourier Transform). Everything outside this bandwidth is simply removed. It acts as a Cookie Cutter.
In signal processing, the term bandwidth does not refer to the nowadays more spread concept of data transfer rate (bits per second) along a communication channel.
