Available platforms and Server Options
Our software can make optimal use of the number of CPU cores in your hardware (see under 'Server Options' below),
and is based on cross platform technology which makes SVI one of the few software companies in the microscopy field that have their software available on Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Linux. All our applications have the same look and feel on all platforms, except where the differences are created by the window manager of the operating system that is being used.
There is a 64-bit multiprocessor version of Huygens available for all supported platforms!!!
Available platforms
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
Processor: AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium 4 and higher. Recommended RAM: 4 GB or more.Apple Mac OS X
Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6. OS X 10.5 is required for full 64 bit capabilities, and for full multiprocessor support.Processor: Intel. Recommended RAM: 4 GB or more.
Please note that OS X 10.7 is not supported yet!

GNU Linux
Linux Ubuntu, SuSE and RedHat (recent versions) are supported, but Huygens works on many other Linux distributions.Processor: AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium 4 and higher. Recommended RAM: 4 GB or more.
SGI IRIX
Irix is not supported anymore, but Huygens 3.5 for Irix 6.5 is available on request.^Huygens Server Options
Huygens uses by default up to 4 CPU cores and one socket (desktop version). To speed up the Huygens software, one of the following server option can be added to your license. CPUs can be either single or hyper-threaded (32-64bit).
Small Server Up to 8 CPU cores and two sockets.
Medium server Up to 16 CPU cores and four sockets.
Large server option Up to 32 CPU cores and eight sockets.
Extra Large server More than 32 CPU cores and more than eight sockets.
