Remote displaying

Our Huygens software allows users to display it's interface on other computers in the network. These computers can run any operating system like Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, IRIX, AIX, SUN, etc. The only requirements are that those computers are part of the same network as the computer on which Huygens is running. The computer running Huygens is considered the server computer. The computers displaying Huygens are considered client computers. See the overview below.

Therefore all users can work with Huygens from the server with their own look and feel without burdening their own computer with heavy computational work.

When the Huygens software is running on Mac OS X, Linux, IRIX or AIX it is able to display it's interface remotely on the users computer using X, the X-server protocol. This is done by logging in from the users computer to the computer where Huygens is running on and making the computer display the in session to the client's computer.

With Huygens running on Windows, it is not possible to remotely display only the Huygens interface because Windows uses the RDP, the Remote Desktop Protocol. Instead users login to the Windows machine running Huygens and displays the whole desktop on the user's computer.
