Optical options

Huygens Confocal option
Specially designed to take into account the optical properties of confocal microscopes. More »

Huygens Widefield option
Specially designed to take into account the optical properties of wide-field microscopes. It estimates the numerical aperture from wide-field bead images, checks and corrects for bleaching, lamp instability, etc. More »

Huygens Nipkow Disk option
Specially designed to take into account the optical properties of Nipkow spinning disk microscopes. More »

Huygens Multi-Photon option
Additional optical option for all multi-photon microscopes. Will work on all in Huygens activated microscopic types mentioned above. This option takes into account their different properties by using: *different PSF generator, * the reconstruct-PSF tools uses different a-priori knowledge about what the PSF should be like, *a number of basic values is computed differently, for instance the Nyquist rate, the expected two-point resolution, and so on. More »

Huygens Time Series option
Processing time series is not simply a matter of frame by frame deconvolution. This module takes into account: * the time-dependent background is determined and corrected for, * for all types of data the program searches for a bleaching curve over time. In the confocal or two-photon case it can be corrected both over time and z. The same applies for wide field, but there the bleaching is always corrected along z,, *all frames are restored in one session for the whole timeperiod, * to process time series with the 4D Gaussian, Laplacian, plotFLux, background, z-drift correction, 4D etc.can only be done with this option More »

Visualization options

Huygens Surface Rendering option
The Surface Renderer is available from the Huygens Essential version 3.0 onwards, and enables you to represent your data in a convenient way to clearly see separated volumes. Because this Surface Renderer is based on fast raytracers, there is no need for any special graphic card as would be necessary for conventional polygon based techniques. More »

Huygens Movie Maker option
The Movie Maker creates sophisticated combined animations from the MIP, and SFP renderer interfaces. In addition, Surface renderer movies can be created when having the Surface Renderer as separate option. Movies can be saved as AVI files or as separate TIFF frames.  More »

Analysis options

Huygens Object Analyzer option
The interactive object analyzer tool for 3D microscopy images in Huygens Essential allows you to obtain statistics of individual objects by clicking on them, or analyzing all objects with a single button press. More »

Huygens Colocalization Analyzer option
The colocalization analyzer allows you to obtain information about the amount of spatial overlap between structures in different data channels and time points. As this overlapping can be defined in many ways, Huygens gives you the colocalization coefficients most commonly used in literature: Pearson, Overlap, and Manders M and K. More »

Huygens Object Stabilizer option
Wizard-driven stabilizer for 2D or 3D time series, and slices within a 3D stack. Measures and corrects in 3D at sub-pixel level for object movement caused by for example cell motion, thermal drift, and shaking. More »

Server options

Desktop server option
By default the Huygens software uses 2 threads in single or dual core computers for all its processes (desktop version). To speed up the Huygens software a server option in your license string can be included. Server options are available for all platforms, have no overlapping features and are applicable for all Huygens Basics and Options. All Basics and Options placed on the same computer can share the server option. Irrespective your choice of server option (desktop, small, medium, large, extra-large) the remote access possibility will always be enabled!

Small server option
Up to 4 threads/cores.

Medium server option
Up to 8 threads/cores.

Large server option
Up to 16 threads/cores.

Extreme server option
More than 16 threads/cores.
