The Huygens Software is partially freeware:

• The components of the Huygens Suite (like Huygens Essential ) have many free functionalities when used without a License String . You can use them for example to read and convert between many File Formats , (as ICS or Tiff files), or to view 3D stacks with the Twin Slicer . Some of the freeware functionalities are:
  • Image read/write in many File Formats (a few special ones require a license)
  • 4D Intelligent Cropper
  • Volume Visualization : Twin Slicer and Sfp Renderer (as in the Free Sfp ).
  • Multi Channel joining
  • Convert between different space and time dimensionalities
  • Invert the image
  • Mirror the image
• The stand-alone application Free Sfp is a completely freeware 3D volume renderer .

The open source Scientific Image Data Base microscopic image archive uses the programmable Huygens Scripting in freeware mode to handle 3D images and create 2D thumbnails by using MIP projections .
